Emily Kinney is is a 27 year old actress who was born in Wayne, Nebraska. She is best known for her roles in It's Complicated, Hot For Teacher, The Gamekillers, and now The Walking Dead.

Who was she before the Apocalypse?

Beth is a 17-year old girl who lived a normal life with her family. She lived on her father's farm and went to the local high school with her boyfriend, Jimmy. Like her father, she attended church frequently and was quite religious.

When the Apocalypse began, Beth continued to live on the farm with Hershel and Maggie.

Progression and Personality 

When first introduced to Beth, she was a quiet and shy girl. Thus far, she has not had many big parts to play in the show. However, when the group was still on the farm she began to have suicidal thoughts after seeing her mother Annette and half-brother Shawn get shot.

Beth did not see the point in living in such a terrible world. At one point while sobbing she said, "It's just so pointless". After both Lori and Maggie attempted to dissuade Beth from killing herself, she ultimately tried to do it anyways. She broke the mirror in her bathroom and cut her wrists with a broken shard of glass. Upon doing so, she realized how painful it really was and decided that it was a mistake. She regained her will to live.

While Beth has thus far played a minor role in the second and third seasons, it has been announced she has been upgraded to a major character for the fourth season. I'm excited to see Beth's character be explored and watch how she progresses over time.
